Back to Back Movies

Getting time to watch a movie has been a little tricky trying to fit in during work. Yesterday was the only time this week I had this big of a window to watch some movies after work. I went to watch two films at the theatre back to back which isn’t something that I do that often. Finding those pockets of time are hard and when you do I wanted to make the most out of it. Despite being a little tired from work there wasn’t time next week cause I need to go out to shoot street cause it’s getting dark earlier.

First film was The Smashing Machine directed by Bennie Safdie starring The Rock and Emily Blunt. Definitely loved The Rock’s moving performance but I think the reason many people won’t see it as the articles have stated that this is The Rocks lowest he’s ever made during week one. I think it’s because we’re so used to seeing him in these big action and family movies and it felt like he stepped down from mainstream movies to get into a more serious film was a bit of a turn off.

The second film was Tron: Ares in Dolby Atmos. One of the best sound experiences I had this year. The rich sound overpowered all the chatter of people sitting around you. Your seats were shaking at all the action scenes.

The way Christopher Nolan used Hanz Zimmer for his film’s music I thought Tron x Daft Punk would be inseparable. When I saw the trailer earlier in the year and saw Nine Inch Nails were doing the music for Tron: Ares I was skeptical. Watching it last night changed my mind and like NIN even more than Daft Punk as much as I don’t want to say that TT.

I’m now considering opening up a Patreon page. I’ll still be writing here all the raw thoughts that are coming to mind. But I like the tiered system they have that not even Squarespace can’t do. Playing around and brainstorming what the free and the paid tiers will have.

Update 11/5/25

I decided I’m not going to open another account for people to follow me on. I actually looked through patreon and like the tier system that they have but again, how long will patreon last? I don’t want to construct my little empire on another platform. So I decided to blog directly on my website which will not make it easy for people to find me and not as convenient as blogging on a social media platform or on substack or patreon but I think in the long run, I want it to feel exclusive and available in my home arena where I can play around with my own thoughts on my own digital property.

Also it feels fun for people who are fans of your work to work to find hidden gems around your work. It’s kind of like easter eggs. I’m not trying to write for everybody but it’s out here in the open if you are actively searching for my online activity on the digital web.
