I’m overthinking this blogging thing. Been struggling how I want to format it, what to write about. There’s not too many personal blogs written anymore so it’s hard to find inspiration and if you’re even going in the right direction.

Instagram and Tumblr works great as a visual based microblog. X is a good place to blog for writers and you’re allowed to write more per tweet if you have a verified account.

The reason I’m fighting to have a blog is cause I want to just write without the views and the likes to attached to them. I love X to connect with the film and AMC A-List community and it’s a good place to throw out budding ideas. But a personal blog on your own website feels more pure and love that early 2000’s vibe.

My blog hasn’t been consistent. Two reasons:

  1. Instagram reels and smartphones in general are too damn addicting…

    &

  2. I keep believing the writing has to be 105% perfect before you hit publish

I try too hard to write outside of who I am. Dumb it down and write what’s on your mind and write about the things that are, as Henry Miller would say, right under your nose.

The reason I want to blog is mostly cause many artists and creatives do more video content and created a youtube channel. I knew that doing a youtube channel would interfere with taking photos. If you try to do two things at the same time the quality of both goes down. It was interesting to watch POV’s of street photographers when you’re first starting out but if you look at their photos they’re terrible.

A blog is the most you’ll ever get out of me.

Anyway here’s some things I did today:

  • I posted a set of photos this morning. Personally I prefer doing a series of photos in one post over individually posting photos. The trade off is that it requires A LOT more time to gather the photos on the streets and selecting what works well together. But I think long term the engagement is going to compound in interest and if you’re being authentic in what you do, people can feel that immediately.

  • I’m only eating one meal a day and the other 23.5 hours of the day my stomach is screaming for more food. Earlier this evening I was thinking about bacon and suddenly went on YouTube see tips from professional chefs on the Do’s and Dont’s of cooking bacon.

  • I don’t do thrift shopping but learned from a colleague to always buy something two sizes larger than what you usually wear. Doing that allows you to layer it with other clothes more easily.

  • Favorite Reel of the Night got me replaying this like a complete idiot.

Ok good night 🌈🦄
