New Camera Arrived w/ Defect

Me and my partner are heading out to North Carolina for the weekend to visit some friends who visited us in D.C. two months ago. I thought it was kind of a good excuse to get the new camera I wanted for some time. My current workhorse camera that I use for street photography and my side gigs has a pretty high shutter count. It’s also big and bulky and although it’s never failed me on image quality, the bulkiness of it has kind of interfered with me getting some critical shots on the street but I’ll talk about that later.

With this new camera it’s small and light but still has the stuff I need to get the shots I need fast and quick.

I ordered the camera on Amazon expecting it to arrive next week. A couple hours later after purchasing it, I get a notification that it will arrive the next day!! By the way, that’s one of the best feelings to get a package several days earlier than expected.

It arrived but I still neeeded to get a screen protector from it so I waited five more days until that accessory arrived. I hate scratched that are directly on the screen.

Once I applied the screen on, I turn the camera on and everything seemed to be fine, until I noticed that the screen on the LCD was upside down…

I turned the camera on and off, charged the battery until it was fully charged and still nothing worked.

The next morning I called the camera manufacturer who was really kind to give me my options on what to do with it.

Since it was bought through Amazon, I could either return it directly to them or keep the camera and find a repair shop to get it fixed. The guy on the phone was pushing me to simply return it to amazon get a full refund and buy that same camera again. That was what I was going to do anyway. I felt like you’re going to have to spend so much time and money to get the screen fixed.

I applied for a refund through Amazon and all I need to do is return it to a locker box in its original package and they’ll take care of it from there! In about seven days I’ll get the refund.

This morning I bought the camera again so hopefully, I might be lucky and they’ll deliver it tomorrow cause we’re leaving for North Carolina 4am this Saturday.

I’m happy both ways, my camera still works and I have my polaroid so I shouldn’t complain too much. It’ll be fun regardless.

Fully articulated, nothing is wrong with the info on the screen.

When I flip the screen, notice the info hasn’t turn right side up…

I won’t say which camera this is, but I think if you know the cameras and lenses I use for my street photography on my Flickr page, you should know what camera this is lol.

Heading off to D.C. to drop it off at the Amazon locker box. There wasn’t one closer in Virginia… I need that refund to start processing right away so time to sign off!!

Update:

I took the metro to D.C. I had no time to do anything while there so I didn’t bother to take my camera with me. It was just getting off the station, dropping it off at the locker, greeting the kind Amazon employee before leaving and immediately taking the metro back to get to my car to drive to work.

One this I forgot tho and I’m kind of nervous. I made sure I had all the plastic wrapping and manual + warranty card but one thing I couldn’t find and I hope they don’t penalize me when I get my refund is that I could not for the life of me find that little plastic hot shoe cover that all new cameras have that photographers immediately toss into the trash. I recall taking it out and placing it on the table but couldn’t find it afterwards.

I will be extremely mad if they penalize me when the camera has a defect that Amazon cannot sell and they won’t give me a 100% full refund because I forgot about a little plastic cover that photographers toss away as soon as they unbox a new camera.

I won’t know until later this month when they process this return…
