Last Week of October. Pretty relaxing month until I got a speeding ticket in the mail yesterday. It was near the end of September during an early morning job in Maryland pouring rain and didn't see the speed limit change. I saw a white flash pop from behind and knew it was a speed camera.

Aside from that I've been trying to go back to DC on the weekends again trying to capture the fall scene. The weather here is still nice that people are still wearing summer(y) clothes and then some who are wearing light wool coats, sweaters, boots, beanies etc.

This time of the year and early spring are my favorite. You can walk several hours without sweating and no mosquitos to smack.

There's a café called Point Chaud Café that I like to go to for a half hour break. It's on the rim of Georgetown and you have to walk uphill so only the local DC people go there. It used to be a Starbucks and when I was applying for my work visa in China years ago, this would be the place I would sit down and make sure my visa papers were all in order.

They have a long menu with variations of espresso based drinks with names that I can't pronounce. I usually get black espresso but felt like getting a cortado which is an espresso with equal amount of milk. The light brown with the blue and the glass cup I thought made a nice photo.

While I'm sitting down I'll look through my camera to see what images I took earlier that day and see what's usable and what I need to pay attention to when I go back downtown for the latter half. Sometimes I'll try to read a book but it's hard concentrate on the page with all the noise. There are times I looked at a paragraph for more than five minutes and still have no clue what was happening.

That's all I wanted to share today. Might do more of this style of newsletters. The photos I post on Instagram are usually the best of the best from my excursions but these very casual shots of seemingly nothing are also worthy of sharing as well.

The election is next week. Trying to vote early this week to avoid the lines. I have a small morning job on that day but going to hurry down to DC immediately after to photograph the crowds and passionate voters of both sides. There's going to be so many scenes worth documenting there. Hopefully I don't get another speeding ticket or parking ticket that day either.
