Celine Song’s Experience as a Matchmaker

I’m watching the first twenty minutes of Materialists (2025) of Celine Song’s commentary of the film. There was a reason I loved this film more than I should and Celine Song has been revealing them to me into words.

First interesting fact is that Celine Song used to be a matchmaker herself for six months and used that experience to write the script for this film. What she noticed from listening to her clients was that they were always using numbers to describe themselves or what they were looking for in a partner. Because height, weight, salary are real things, people, matchmakers and dating apps can use that as data to calculate and determine compatibility.

Is there a perfect person out there for us and is there a perfect formula to match people up together?
