It’s 12:53am.

Took an afternoon nap at 6:30 pm and woke up 9:30 pm. I had a nightmare I was being chased by everyone like in Running Man (2026).

Re-watched Past Lives by Celine Song.

The theme you see in Celine Song’s two films Past Lives (2023) and Materialists (2025) revolves around a woman who is caught between two men.

In Materialists the theme is clear. Lucy, a matchmaker in New York, meets Harry, a perfect ten out of ten, and also bumps into her ex-boyfriend, John, the complete opposite of Harry: works a catering job living paycheck to paycheck, living with roommates and still trying to achieve his dream as an actor.

In Past Lives Nora is married to Arthur but when a childhood sweetheart comes to visit her in New York City after not having seen each other in over twenty years, she is caught between two strong currents of feeling.

If you haven’t seen Past Lives yet, it’s not just another cliched love story. Christopher Nolan praised this film saying it was one of his favorite films of that year. What you could feel so strongly in that film was the awkwardness of the husband meeting his wife’s childhood friend/first love and the language barrier. There’s no real solution and you see the unsureness in Nora, Hae Sung and Arthur.
