Bought One of Those Flat Water Bottles

Because it’s getting hot and humid, I’m ever more conscious that I’m drinking enough water. When shooting street photography and you’re spending hours around the city and underground in the humid metro system, I always need to have water or juice on me. Not only is it expensive paying for one way metro rides downtown but the amount you spend on buying two bottles of water or gatorade adds up. I try to bring a drink from home but I carry a very minimalist bag and want to make sure I have all the lenses that I might need when I go out into the field. Most cases my water bottle can never make the cut and will then end up buying something from the downtown CVS.

But the problem with bottles is that since there’s no space in my bag, I would have to hold it with one hand when a potential scene pops up you need both hand to have the camera steady to avoid motion blur. I have missed several good shots because of this.

A couple months ago this company called memobottle came upon my feed and never seen anything quite like it: a flat water bottle.

Waters fit perfectly in cup holders in your car, that side pocket on your backpack. But when you put in your handbag or messenger bag, the cylindrical shape makes it awkward to fit in just right. It’s gaining popularity now and one day it’s probably going to be the next product craze like the Stanley 40-ounce quencher cup with the straw and handle.

I bought a silicone case with it to keep the water insulated and to prevent condensation allowing it easy to slip out of your hands. They offer many different colors. The bright colorful ones are tempting but I decided on the dark navy blue which matches most of my clothes that I own. When mine arrives, I’ll make sure to take some pictures of how it fits in the camera bag.

Here are some photos I took two weeks ago that I finally got to publishing online. I do very little edits so I don’t have a good excuse why I don’t publish within the day I take the photo. Part of it is laziness and also want some breathing room before the photo taken becomes viewable to the public.
